Cholatse Peak climbing / Jobo Lhaptshan is one of the difficult trekking peaks lies in the Everest region, has opened for climbing under mountaineering association of Nepal. Nepal Mountaineering Association declared the Mt. Cholatse peak in group A category climbing peak. Main attraction of Cholatse peak is panoramic views of Himalayan peaks like Everest (8850), Nuptse (7879m), Lhotse (9501m), Lhotse Shar (8383m), Makalu (8475m), Baruntse (7720m), and Ama Dablam (6856m) Thamserku, Cho-oyu etc. Cholatse peak is situated at Mahalangur Himalayan range in Everest region at Solukhumbu District, Nepal. Comparatively Cholatse Peak is very hard to climb than other peak in Nepal. Mt Cholatse is the technically difficult peak it requires careful ascent. We recommended cholatse peak for those climbers who are experience in ice and rock climbing. Only few climbers get success in cholatse peak climbing. Climbers need a vast mountaineering ability to climb Cholatse peak. Cholatse peak is connected to Taboche (6,501m) by a long ridge.


Cholatse peak climbing itinerary has been carefully designed to allow for gradual ascend and proper acclimatization by our climbing expert. Best season for Cholatse peak climbing is March to May and September to December. Cholatse peak climbing arranges camping basic only. If given Cholatse peak climbing itinerary is not suitable for you, we design another itinerary as per your desire and duration of holidays. Cholatse Peak Climbing Itinerary

Day 01
Meet at Kathmandu International Airport and transfer to hotel (1348 m)

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, Tribhuwan International Airport, we will receive you with private vehicle and transfer to hotel in Kathmandu or in Planet hotel Bhaktapur in B/B plan. Our representative will give you information about further programs.

Day 02
Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley.
In the morning after breakfast at 9 AM, we host a Pre-Trip meeting at your hotel in Kathmandu and introduced your trek Leader/Guide mean time and it will provide an opportunity for individuals to ask questions about the your trek and to introduce you to other participants. This includes a final briefing and preparations for the trip.
Day 03
Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2886m.) and Trek to Phakding: 35 Min fly: 3:30 hrs trek
Early morning, fly together to Lukla. Lukla is a small town with an airport. There are few tea shops, lodges, hotels and general stores. You begin today’s trek from Lukla following a gentle climb up the mountainside on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi. Nupla (5885m) can be seen in the distance on the opposite bank, is a peak atop the Kongde Ridge. You descend a mountainside path that merges into your route to Everest, with views to a valley to your right; and at its far end, Kusum Kang (6367m.). The Dudh Kosi approaches as you pass a Mani wall and arrive at Ghat teahouse. You continue along a small path with many climbs and descents following the left bank of Dudh Koshi to Phakding.
Day 04
Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440 m.): 5 Hrs

Mt.Thamserku looms skyward on the opposite bank. You cross a stream and climb the terraced hill from the Dudh Koshi route, to arrive at Benkar. The trail now climbs from the riverbed on the left bank into the mountain, through a forest to Chumoa. You continue along a path with many ups and downs; cross a stream, and pass by the tiny village of Monjo. Now you descend the path of stone steps and return to the right bank. After a short climb you come to Jorsale’s teahouse and hotel, also stop at the National Park entrance counter where National Park fee is collected. After your departure from Jorsale you enter a forested mountainside. You follow a short walk along the riverbed of this V-shaped valley where the river forks - the right is the Dudh Koshi and the left is the Bhote Koshi that leads to Nampa La. After short distance along the Bhote Kosi you begin the steep ascent to Namche Bazar. As the mountain path zigzags uphill, you will emerge at a ridge top rest area that offers excellent views of Everest (8848m) and Lhotse (8516m.), The climb eases somewhat, and Namche Bazar appears ahead as you travel along the path surrounded by pines. Pass the plateau where the Saturday market is held and enter the village. Namche Bazar (3440m) is surrounded on three sides by mountain ranges and opens out only where it faces the Bhote Koshi. The village is a central hub of the area and food, sundries and even mountain climbing equipment may be purchased here.

Day 05
Rest day at Namche Bazaar (3440 m.) for acclimatization then to Khumjung (3780 m)
Namche is tucked away between two ridges amidst the giant peaks of the Khumbu and has an abundance of lodges, tea shops and souvenir shops as well as a magnificent outlook. It is an ideal place to spend a rest day for acclimatization to the high altitude before heading off to Dole. For the acclimatization you trek to Khhumjung via Syangaboche hill station (360 deg. panorama). You can also enjoy the splendid views of Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse, Tawche and kongde. Or you can have an hour walk up to the Syangboche (3800 m.) where you will have the amazing view of Mt.Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Cholatse, Tawoche, Kwangde, Kusum Kangaru and more. Then you can visit Khumjung monastery in the afternoon. Khhumjung is densely populated by Sherpa community. There is an also good view from the National Park Centre and Museum just above the town. This museum exhibits Sherpa culture.
Day 06
Khumjung to Dole (4040m)
Leaving Khumjung we have a choice of two trails up to Mong La. The left one goes through the rocks, steep up. The right one is used as yak trail. Both the trails join just before Mong La. After steep down to Phortse Tanga, the trail goes gently to Dole passing through patches of birch and rhododendron forest where the elusive musk deer can sometimes be seen.
Day 07
Dole to Machermo (4410m).
Today, the trek goes from Dole to Machermo (4410m.). Walking along the alpine meadow enjoying yaks and alpine highland birds and flowers, with view of Cho Oyu (8153m) to the North is rewarding one. Overnight stay at Machermo.
Day 08
Machermo to Gokyo Lake (4750m).
We climb up the moraine on the far side of the village and then walk gently downhill to the village of Fanka. The path enters a very steep region where the path is cut into a cliff. Arrive at the foot of a rock staircase and begin the slow climb upwards. We then enter at a wooden bridge over the Dudh Kosi and mark the first of the Gokyo Lakes, populated with its amazing high altitude ducks. Just before Gokyo, there is a chautara (resting place) covered with prayer flags. Gokyo village can be seen from here.
Day 09
Gokyo Lake to Gokyo Ri (5,333m.) and back to Gokyo Lake
We climb up to the top of Gokyo Ri early in the morning to have stunning views of the upper Gokyo valley, the massive Ngozumpa Glacier and an incredible panoramic view of the whole Khumbu Himalayas like- Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu (8481m), Cho-Oyu (8153m) and Gychung Kang (7922m) and many more.
Day 10
Gokyo village to Thagnak (4661m)
We trek down from the Gokyo Valley to Thagnak. Along the way, we experience the Himalayan culture and life. We cross the crevassed glacier and reach the lateral moraine at a far. The village is just below a small cliff.
Day 11
Tagnag to Dzongla (4830m) via Cho La Pass (5330m).
We leave Tagnag following the path alongside the stream through the yak pastures. On the way, we can see the Cho La. We make our attempt to top the Cho La (5,420m.). Overnight stay at Dzongla.
Day 12
Dzongla to Cholatse Base Camp (4930m)

Day 17
Pheriche to Phortse (3750m.)
Now we trek from Pheriche to Phortse (3750m.). On the way, one can have a look at wild animals like mountain goat, musk deer and many species of himalayan birds. There are monasteries as well at Pangboche and Phortse which were believed to have been constructed during the 16th century. The Pangboche village has also gained its popularity for highest settlement on earth.
Day 18
Phortse (3750m.) to Khumjung (3790m.)
We trek from Phortse (3750m.) to Khumjung (3790m.).The trail here descends for early twenty minutes and ascends up steeply for almost one hour to Mongla (4000m.). From this spot, you can see the panoramic view of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kusum Kangaru, Konde-Ri and Tawache peak. Now the trail descends and ascends frequently up to Khumjung. The Khumjung village is said to be the largest settlement of Khumbu region. There is well-equipped high school built by Edmund Hillary in 1960. Besides, there is an old monastery where the skull of Yeti is believed to have been preserved.
Day 19
Khumjung to Monjo (2835m.)
Today the trek goes to Thame to Monjo (2835m.). While trekking from Thame to Monjo we come across Sherpa settlements and interact with the local people. Upon arrival at Monjo, we get into one of the best lodges of the area.
Day 20
Monjo to Lukla (2800m.)
Today is the final trekking day. We trek to Lukla (2800m.). During the trekking trails gradually descend along the bank of Dudh Koshi River. We would have plenty of opportunities to walk over suspension bridges.
Day 21
Lukla to Kathmandu
We board our early flight to Kathmandu from Lukla. Upon arrival at TIA, we would be received by our representatives and transfer to hotel. In the evening, we serve you farewell dinner in Nepal typical restaurant.
Day 22
Drop you to the kathamndu international airport for your onward programs.
Our Nepalese support team will take you to the airport for your flight home. (Or stay longer for short tours such as game drive at National parks, rafting, Tibet tours, mountain biking etc).
