Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu valley. Half day sightseeing in Kathmandu.Upon arrival in Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport, we will receive you with private vehicle and transfer to hotel in Kathmandu with breakfast plan. Around noon, we start a guided tour to the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu which are landmarks as World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu city with our professional tour guide. The day tour includes the historic Hanuman dhoka Durbar Square (or Basantapur Durbar square or Kathmandu durbar square), the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhunath) and Buddhists shrine Buddha Nath stupa. It is one of the largest Stupas of Nepal and one of the large stupa in the world. In the afternoon, there will be a pre-trip discussion where we can meet our trek leader and other team members. Day 02: Drive to Soti Khola (775m/2,534 feet), 9 hoursYour trekking staff will come to your Hotel early in the morning at 6:00 am to pick you up; from there we have a 6-hour driving journey to Arughat. Reaching Arughat Bazaar (640m/2,093 feet), we follow the Budhi Gandaki River toward its point of origin. We pass the village of Morder and Simre, Arkhat to reach Soti khola. The complete drive from arughat to Soti Khola takes about 3 hours roughly.
Day 03: Trek to Machha Khola (900m/2,943 feet), 5 hours.The trail descends slowly until you climb again to mountain ridge to Almara. Pass the forest trail to arrive at Riden Gaon. The valley here cuts into another side of the river to enter Budhi Gandaki. At Labubesi, the trail follows down to the sandy river bed of Budhi Gandaki. Camp tonight at Machha River.
Day 04: Jagat trekking (1,340m/4,382 feet), 6 hours.After crossing Machha River and Khola besi, there is a hot spring called “Tatopani”. The trail follows forested area after this toward Dovan. Below Dovan, there is a huge rapid at Budhi Gandaki. As the elevation increases, the rapids and the scenery undergoes a complete transformation. At Jagat, there is a police check-post where your trekking permit will be checked.
Day 05: Trek to Ngyak Phedi(2,310m/7,554 feet), 6 hours.After ascending to a terraced hill of Saguleri and view of Sringi Himal (7177 m). we continue towards Sirish Gaon, Gandaki valley narrows from herewith soaring precipitous walls.
Day 06: Trek to Ghap (2,100m/6,867 feet), 7 hours.Follow the trail upstream of Deng River – a tiny village of 4 houses. We walk through a newly built rock tunnel from here, thus avoiding the traditional steep climb. At Ghap, the Tibetan culture begins with Mani stones and chortens all around.
Day 07: Trek to Lho (3,200m/10,464 feet), 7 hours.After crossing the wooden bridge over Budhi Gandaki we follow the path lined with houses that are interspersed with cultivated fields. At Namru, there is a police check post again. After Namru, across the river originating from Linda Glacier and continue on to Sho. Naike peak, Manaslu north (7,774 m) and Manaslu (8,150 m) are visible from here. Tonight we fix the camp near a spring at Lho gaon – a small village.
Day 08: Sama gompa trek (3,500m/11,445 feet), 6 hours.You will pass the stone gate and long Mani stone wall of the village after Lho with a full view of Peak 29 ahead. You can make a side excursion to Pungen Glacier from here to get a very close up view of Manaslu. Follow the lateral moraine of Pungen Glacier toward Sama. From the village of Sama, it takes another 20 minutes to reach Sama Gompa for a night halt.
Day 09: Samagaon half day hiking. Samdo trekking (3,850m/12,628 feet), 5 hours.We will spend a day here in order to acclimatize and adjust to the thinning of the air and also for a local excursion to visit Birendra lake. You might take a full day hiking excursion that takes roughly 8 hours to get Manaslu base camp and return to Sama Gaon. After lunch, we climb a terraced hill on the opposite bank of Budhi Gandaki River from here toward a most remote permanent settlement to Samdo. Day 10: Samdo ridge hiking. Trek to Dharmasala (4,460m/14,630 feet), 5 hours.We recommend you consider spending two nights in Samdo village. Use an extra day to explore the valley north of Samdo toward Tibet and the Gyala Bhanjyang pass. The official tourist map on the Samdo signpost labels show that this valley is “snow leopard area” and whether it is or not, it would make for an exciting samdo day hike.
In addition, we take a short walk of about 3 hours to reach Dharmasala. Hike up to the north from Dharamsala steep ridges toward the Fukang Danda is recommended in terms of magic mountain view. Dharamsala is really just a stone hut, pit toilet, and tent grounds. If you are lucky enough, you can see blue sheep, including a nice ram.
Day 11: Cross Larkya La (5,135m/16,843 feet) and trek Bimthang (3,590m/11,776 feet), 8 hours.We first climb towards Cheo danda and then slowly head steeply uphill towards the snowed covered over the moraine and glacier up to Larke pass. Larke pass summit offers an excellent view of Himlung Himal (7,126m), Cheo Himal (6,820m), Gyagi Kung, Kang Kuru (6981 m) and the Annapurna II (7,937 m). Descending is more difficult rather than ascending as the trail is thin and steep. However, we walk over the landslide and old moraines towards Bimphedi. Bimthang is a great place of wide-open sandy ground.
Day 12: Tilje village trekking (3,900m/12,753 feet), 7 hours.The route gets easier today. We start with a gentle climb through paddy fields towards the small Karcha La pass and descend through big tree and rhododendron forests to Tilje.
Day 13: Trek to Dharapani, Catch the local jeep to Besisahar, 2 hours walk, 5 hours drive.Follow the trail downstream of Marshyangdi River, passing through the scattered villages to reach Dharapani village. We catch a local jeep to Besi Sahar. The drive takes about five hours roughly.
Day 14: Overland drive to Kathmandu. Departure to airportAfter breakfast, In the morning time, we drive back through the scenic countryside from Besisahar to Kathmandu. On arrival at Kathmandu, take a rest at the Gokyo Treks office and we drop you to Kathmandu International Airport for your further journey.
