Rupina La trek combining with a Larke La is a remote and Challenging Adventure in the Manaslu Region of Nepal. Its less popular, less demanding and unique off the beaten adventure route lies in the remote Manaslu Himalaya territory, near the Chuling Himal range.

Officially opened to trekkers in 1991, the route was previously explored by only a few adventurers, including Hugh Swift, who obtained special permits. Until then, this area was primarily reserved for mountaineering expeditions.

Manaslu Rupina la pass is a geographically and culturally rich experience, circling around Mount Manaslu (8,163m) — the world’s 8th highest peak and as well as Himal Chuli (7,893m) and Boudha Himal (6,672m). Rupina La trek Itinerary

Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu airpoprt and transfer to hotel.

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu, one of our airport representative will greet you with a private vehicle and transfer you to your hotel in the Kathmandu Valley. After a welcome drink and check-in, we’ll briefly discuss your travel itinerary. If you’re interested, you can take a short walk to explore the nearby areas of the city at your leisure.

Day 02 Drive to Gorkha Bazaar and to Barpak Village (1,915m/6,262 Feet), 10 hours.

Today we head towards Barpak village, located in the Gorkha district. During the monsoon season, we arrange direct bus services from Kathmandu to Barpak. Our journey starts with a 142 km (approx. 5 hours) drive on a paved road to Gorkha, followed by 50 km (approx. 3 hours) on a scenic dirt road to Barpak.

Along the way, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of lush greenery, terraced farms, pristine rivers, and scattered rural settlements. In Barpak, you’ll be warmly welcomed with traditional cultural programs and can enjoy authentic Nepali cuisine.

Barpak is a large Ghale and Gurung settlement, known for its strong military background—many locals have served in the Indian and British armies. Thanks to remittance income, the village has experienced noticeable economic growth and has good access to hydropower electricity and internet connectivity.

Day 03 Rest day | Explore the Barpak Village.

Barpak is the birthplace of the late Captain Gaje Ghale, a recipient of the prestigious Victoria Cross Medal. This village features unique clustered stone houses, narrow alleys, and panoramic views of Buddha Himal. Despite its traditional architecture, Barpak is equipped with modern amenities such as indoor toilets, hot showers, and internet access in guesthouses..

Day 04 Barpak to Gai Kharka trek (2,900m/9,483 Feet), 7 hours

Today’s trail takes you through remote terrain and dense forests as we ascend to Gai Kharka, a scenic alpine meadow offering spectacular mountain views and a peaceful atmosphere.

Day 05Gai Kharka to Rubina la Phedi (3,800m/12,426 Feet), 5 hours.

A relatively short but steady trek brings us to Rupina La Phedi, the base camp area before we cross the high pass. Expect stunning landscapes and serene surroundings.

Day 06Phedi to Rubina la Pass and trek further to Boudha Himal Base Camp (3,600 m/11,772 Feet), 7 hours.

A challenging day awaits as we cross the Rupina La Pass (4,520m) and descend to Boudha Himal Base Camp, with magnificent Himalayan views and dramatic terrain throughout the journey.

Day 07Trek to Jhon Kharka (2,960m/9.679 Feet), 6 hours

We continue trekking through remote wilderness to reach Jhon Kharka, a scenic campsite nestled in the high hills beneath the towering peaks.

Day 08 Jhon Kharka to Deng trek (2,340m/7,652 Feet), 5 hours.

You’ll ascends into lush forests and small settlements as we reach Deng, a culturally rich village influenced by Tibetan traditions.

Day 09 Deng to Namrung village Trek (2,630m/8,629 feet), 7 hours

From Deng to Namrung takes you through lush forests, crossing suspension bridges and passing traditional villages. As you gradually ascend along the Budhi Gandaki River to reach the culturally rich village of Namrung.

Day 10 Namrung to Lho Gaon trek (3,200m/10,464 Feet), 6 hours.

Today’s trek leads us to Lho Gaon, offering incredible views of Mount Manaslu and an opportunity to explore ancient monasteries and traditional Tibetan homes.

Day 11 Lho to Sama Gaon Trek (3,400m/11,118 Feet), 5 hours.

Our journey continues towards Sama Gaon, one of the most picturesque villages on the Manaslu Circuit, where you’ll experience vibrant Buddhist culture and panoramic mountain vistas.

Day 12 Rest day in Samagaon.

Take the day to rest and acclimatize in the beautiful village of Samagaon, surrounded by towering peaks and ancient monasteries. You may also explore the nearby Pungyen Gompa or hike toward Manaslu Base Camp for stunning panoramic views.

Day 13 Sama Gaon to Samdo village (3,875m/12,713 Feet), 4 hours.

Today’s trail gently climbs through alpine pastures and yak grazing fields, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayan range. Samdo, a remote Tibetan refugee village near the Nepal-Tibet border, welcomes you with its unique high-altitude culture.

Day 14 Samdo to Dharmasala Lodge (4,460m/14,633 Feet), 4 hours.

A shorter yet scenic trek today takes you to Dharmasala, the final staging point before crossing the high pass. The trail provides dramatic landscapes and a chance to spot blue sheep and Himalayan birds.

Day 15 Cross the Larke La (5,106m/16,752 feet) and descend to Bimthang (3,800m/12,467 feet), 7 hours.

This is the most challenging yet rewarding day of the trek as you cross the stunning Larke La Pass, with jaw-dropping views of Himlung, Cheo Himal, and Annapurna II. After the summit, a steep descent leads you to the glacial valley of Bimthang, surrounded by snow-capped peaks.

Day 16 Bimthang to Goh/Goa village (3,720m/12,205 feet), 5 hours.

The trail descends through rhododendron and pine forests, with scenic views of the Dudh Khola River and surrounding mountains. Goa village offers a peaceful stop with cozy teahouses and warm hospitality.

Day 17 Descend to Dharapani and take a local jeep descend to Besi sahar (1,200m/3,924 Feet), 6 hours.

Trek down to Dharapani, where the Manaslu Circuit connects with the Annapurna trail, marking the final stretch of your trek. From there, take a scenic local jeep ride to Besisahar, the gateway town to the Annapurna region.

Day 18Return with a bus to Kathmandu / Pokhara.

After breakfast, enjoy a comfortable drive back to either Kathmandu or to Pokhara, passing through charming hills, rivers, and countryside villages. It’s a perfect time to reflect on your incredible Himalayan journey.

Day 19Seeing the sights of Kathmandu [ UNESCO HERITAGE SITES TOUR]

Explore the rich history and vibrant culture of Kathmandu Valley, including iconic UNESCO sites like Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, and Patan Durbar Square. This guided cultural tour offers deep insights into Nepal’s spiritual and architectural heritage.

Day 20 Good bye Kathmandu

It’s time to say goodbye to Nepal with cherished memories and unforgettable trekking experiences. We will transfer you to the airport for your onward journey with heartfelt wishes for safe travels.

  • Snacks, hot showers, internet, and battery charging at tea houses.
  • Personal clothing, sleeping bag, trekking poles, and gear (can be rented or purchased in Kathmandu).
  • Tipping is expected and customary in Nepal for good service.
